4:00AM Pacific Standard Time (PST).  Insomnia is my friend.  Fabulous.

8:00 AM PST – My first session was the Regional Executive Orientation.  I was already familiar with a lot of it (that’s encouraging!), but I also got a few good tidbits out of this.

•    Changes in National Membership dues beginning April 1, 2010:

o    The Spouse membership will be incorporated into the Family Membership.

o    Family Memberships will be $85 (plus region dues), and will include spouses and children.

•    Membership Incentive programs for current members have had some updates.

o    $10 “SCCA Gold” credits – For every member that you refer, you receive $10 towards membership dues, SCCA merchandise, entry fees for National events, etc.

o    $15 increase (to $45) the maximum discount towards membership dues for working at least 12 sanctioned Club Racing events.  This starts April 1 and will be retroactive for events held in 2010.

•    The Solo/Rally Tax (also known as the Weekend Membership) had the following statistics that I thought were interesting:

o    In 2008, 19163 weekend memberships were issued.  Of those, 1564 converted to full memberships.  That’s a conversion rate of 12.4%.

o    In 2009, 18848 weekend memberships were issued (~ 10,000 were duplicates).  Of those, 1300 converted to full memberships.  That’s a conversion rate of 10.3%.

•    The WDCR webmasters should start posting membership milestones, new region members and maybe even member birthdays.  Everyone likes to see their name in print!

•    If you’re interested in purchasing some SCCA merchandise, check out http://www.sccagear.com.

What I posted above are just highlights.  I’ll post more information as the it becomes available.

9:45 AM PST – Solo Open Forum.  I figured I’d sit in on something I know and understand.  A few highlights:

•    Howard Duncan talked… a lot.

•    Sound level restrictions will be enforced at all National-level events.  Be prepared to comply with 100 decibels at 50 feet.

•    Site acquisition has been and forever will be a challenge for Solo programs across the country.

•    Pro Solo competitors will be able to sign up for Pro Solo Contingency programs online.  No more paper!!!

11:30 AM PST – Lunch.  Rubber turkey and Region awards.  We didn’t win any.  Boo.

Cheers!
